Rose End Cottage, Oddington, Cotswolds
A quintessential Cotswold stone cottage in one of the most sought after villages in the Cotswolds, perfect for a romantic escape.
Location
Named in the Telegraph’s ‘48 poshest villages in Britain’, Oddington (made up of Lower and Upper Oddington) lies two miles east of Stow-on-the-Wold, adjacent to Daylesford.
Daylesford is now famously known for being the home of Daylesford Organic: an award-wining farm/shop/restaurant/garden centre/gym, & spa complex run by the Bamford family.
Oddington itself is home to two great pubs: The Horse and Groom (only steps from Rose End Cottage) and The Fox (also run by the Bamford family). Unsurprisingly, the village is packed with quintessential Cotswold manor houses, well-maintained village greens and landscaped gardens.
Step inside…
Built from traditional Cotswold stone, Rose End Cottage dates back to the early 1800s, originally built as farm worker accommodation. The cottage was overhauled in the early 2000s and converted into modern accommodation, whilst retaining the character of the building.
The cottage opens into a large porch, perfect for storing coats, boots, and bags.
Step inside to find exposed beams, stone walls and floors, with large traditional log burner to provide constant warmth throughout winter - logs and kindling are of course provided on arrival.
The cosy space is perfect for a romantic break.
The quaint kitchen contains an traditional electric Aga cooker, a four-ring ceramic hob, microwave, kettle and toaster.
The complimentary welcome hamper includes a bottle of wine and sweet treats to enjoy whilst sat by the log burner.
The downstairs space benefits from underfloor heating to provide additional warmth in winter months.
With high ceilings, exposed original oak beams and beautiful garden views, the bedroom offers a scenic view to wake up to. The cottage benefits from a comfortable super king size bed, along with a large wardrobe and dressing table.
The upstairs bathroom contains a roll-top bath with an overhead shower.
Located off a quiet lane and set back from the road, the cottage is in a tranquil setting where only the sounds of songbirds and the nearby stream can be heard.
The cottage benefits from a well-maintained front garden that can be enjoyed from the outdoor seating provided.
Unlike many properties in the village, the cottage benefits from private parking on a large shared driveway.
Oddington is a leafy, well-maintained village that features smart village greens, landscaped gardens, Cotswold manor houses and postcard cottages, making for the most scenic strolls.
From Lower Oddington you can take public footpaths to Daylesford and other neighbouring villages.
