Location

Shilton is a small village within West Oxfordshire, around three miles south of Burford. The village has a rich history, with the Church of England parish church dating back to the 12th century. The village is home to a 17th century inn, The Rose and Crown.

Many of the buildings within Shilton are constructed from locally-sourced Cotswold stone, giving a distinct quintessential feel to the village.

The Chestnuts dates back to the 1850's, bringing all the charm of a period cottage with all the modern luxuries of today. The cottage has won awards in the Self Catering Holiday Cottage of the Year awards at The South West Awards, and awards for Ethical, Sustainable and Responsible efforts.

The large cottage is perfect for groups of mixed ages and sizes; the adaptive design allows rooms to be opened/closed off as required.

The interior design of the cottage seamlessly blends 19th century character with a sleek, modern aesthetic. We especially love the exposed Cotswold stone throughout the cottage.

Sink into the comfy sofas of the main lounge with its large fireplace, or snuggle up with a book in the Library room…

The room can be converted into a movie room with the black out blinds, and can also become a fifth private downstairs bedroom should you need a little more space, just ask for details.

The cottage sleeps up to eight people in four double bedrooms with three luxurious bathrooms. Extra beds are available upon request.The large beds with soft blankets are perfect for drifting off to sleep after a busy day of activities.

The large private rear garden overlooks the Shilton village ford; a great place to sit and enjoy a meal, read a book on a lounger or have a drink in the evening sun on the terrace. A BBQ is of course available for use in summer months for al fresco dining.

Off-street parking is available for one car plus plenty of free roadside parking with no restrictions. There is also Universal PodPoint and Tesla EV charger with cable.

The versatile space at the cottage is a perfect for large, mixed groups. For those looking to celebrate, a range of wine, gin and champagne glasses are provided, and the large kitchen is a great space for hosting dinner parties. For those looking to relax, in-house massages can be arranged.

Uniquely, the cottage can also be hired out by the day for business use, with both indoor and outdoor spaces able to be set up for meetings.
